I live in Virginia, and there's a lot of wine vineyards in the area. When a cold snap hits the region, before they've been able to harvest the grapes, they light fires like these to prevent the grapes from dying on the vine. I fell in love with the way the light traveled up this column of smoke while it twisted and rose. It's nice to see something chaotic and powerful with purpose, while keeping in mind that those random sparks could carry the seeds of destruction.
This print of my original oil painting is on Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper. This 100% cotton rag, acid-free paper offers a velvet surface that highlights vivid colors, rich blacks, and gentle textures in a way that faithfully represents my original work.
